I have a 40 minute commute to work so I listen to a lot of podcasts on my way to/from work. I’ve been moving more and more of my software to the cloud. One major annoyance I’ve had was the need to hook up my iPhone to my PC and then need to use iTunes to download and manage my podcast subscriptions. I’ve tried downloading podcasts from my phone, but you can’t manage the subscriptions from the phone (at least as far as I can tell).
I recently ran across the RSS Player Pro ($0.99) which allows you to subscribe to podcasts on the phone and then download them over EDGE, 3G or Wi-Fi. It will even notify you via push notification when new episodes are available (up to 5 subscriptions). I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now and I really like it. Much easier to check and download new episodes, and not need for iTunes….all you need is the RSS feed URL.
Here’s a link if you want more information.

I just got my ipod today, and downloaded a pod cast and was really disappointed with the pod cast player. I can’t easily fast forward or re-wind with the built in podcast player. It doesn’t even show you how much time is left in a pod cast!! Unless I’m doing something wrong?
Does RSS player allow you to easily skip forward within a pod cast?

Yes, I actually like the RSS Player better than the iPhone in terms of FF & Rewind. Hitting either button in the app jumps you ahead 10 seconds, hit it twice and it goes 20 seconds, etc.
